I have always worked in Customer Service roles, but I have never seen a company so friendly and engaged with both their employees and their customer base. What one piece of advice have you received that has drastically changed your outlook on life?
Assigning Responsibility/Blame is only important when it helps make something better going forward. Generally, the only person you can control is yourself. Ergo, blame is usually only useful when you accept it yourself, and then reflect on how you can do better next time.
Who is one person (could be more)--besides your parents, they are easy candidates--that you would like to express your gratitude to?
My High School AP English teacher. Instead of grading students against a global criteria, she graded each student where she knew they could be. She forced me out of my comfort zone and brought my reading comprehension and my writing skills to a much higher level.
Who or what are you always happy to see? Why?
Cats. Because they are cats.

I stumbled upon HawkSoft, a company local to my hometown, in early 2018 shortly after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I love working as a Team Manager in the Product Support department to help each of my team members grow their knowledge of HawkSoft CMS and pursue their individual professional development goals. I choose to work at HawkSoft because HawkSoft cares – not about the bottom line or meeting sales quotas, but about their agency customers and employees. After years of working in tech support for big-name companies who outsourced their product support, it was a breath of fresh air to realize that the HawkSoft executive team means what they say when they talk about being beholden to only two stakeholders – their employees and their customers. HawkSoft’s company culture is unmatched by any other company I’ve ever worked for and I’m grateful to be a part of the HawkSoft family.

Hobbies: I love to go hiking and camping as oten as I can. When I'm not in the mountains, I am in the kitchen cooking plenty of soups, pastas and sandwiches. I am also a huge Boston sports fan and rarely miss a game.

The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway because it draws you into the story so well but Hemingway still leaves you contemplating so many character developments even after finishing the novel.

Mt. Tabor because its the perfect spot to hammock.

received that has drastically changed your outlook on life?
Everyone's got their own things
going on in their lives. The reason someone is yelling or
frustrated likely isn't something you did, but something else in
their life and you are the person they are dumping the frustration
on. Don't take it personally.

is one person (could be more)--besides your parents, they are easy
candidates--that you would like to express your gratitude to?
Hard
to say - don't have anyone specific - but I do have a group of
friends that have been with me for 20 years and support me in the
good and bad times.
What is a quote you have burned
in your mind, that you'll always remember? Why?
No matter where you go - there you
are. Buckaroo Bonsai. Yep, it's a movie but always
struck me as funny and sort of expressed a lot about my life.

I joined HawkSoft and started as a Product Support Representative based on a referral from a lifelong friend. I stayed and moved up through various positions because of the culture, work environment, and the best part, our customers! I have just over 15 years working as a manager in the service industry for both small franchises and large corporations. Each of these companies had core values plastered all over the walls and on screen savers, but very rarely do you see companies really owning them and walking the walk. I knew from the very first meeting with the leadership of the company that things would be very different here. Working for this company has really been one the best chapters of my life so far, and I can't wait for what comes next.

Brian - Team Manager
HawkSoft puts people first, and so when the opportunity to join their family arose, I leapt at it. I have over a decade of both IT and Customer Service experience. I enjoy a good puzzle, but love helping others with them even more. In my role as a Product Support Team Manager, I do both all day! I get to help both my team and the clients I work with overcome their own unique challenges. In my spare time I’m usually restoring an old broken piece of technology or exploring the outdoors and visiting new places with my dog.

Galileo Galilei. Pushing back
against the established order and furthering human understanding for
Physics/Astronomy/Scientific Method is a huge step for us. Also
would thank Marie Curie for her work in Radiation and overturning
established ideas in chemistry and physics.
What is a quote you have burned
in your mind that you'll always remember? Why?
My grandfather told me once that no
one is going to solve my problems but me. It always sticks with
me and I look to it often internally, interpreting it a bit
differently sometimes but holding true to it none the less.
Why do you choose to work at
HawkSoft?
Having been a client of Hawksoft for
many, many years as an agent, an opportunity finally arrived to work
for the company that I knew truly had the best customer service in
the industry. Everyone at Hawksoft is amazing and each day I am
happy with my decision to come aboard.
Jake Dunbar - Director of Product Support

I have experience as a leader in automation for two agencies, playing key roles at both in choosing and implementing a new management system. Not only did I play a key role in technology automation, I was also a licensed CSR and Agent in Property & Casualty and Life & Health for four years. I used the management systems every day, becoming familiar with every aspect from the front line to the back office.
In joining HawkSoft, I had the privilege over the last ten years of helping agencies of all varieties. I was able to help agencies new to benefiting from a management system and agencies who were switching management systems. I’ve learned a lot about what is important to agencies and what it takes to effectively implement a management system, so key to their success. Every day I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to the insurance agency’s success, to share what I’ve learned and to make a difference.
My favorite thing about HawkSoft is the people. Everybody has a great passion for what we are trying to accomplish. We value relationships and what each person brings to the table. We really enjoy working with each other, and that ultimately benefits our clients.
Jake Dunbar has been a licensed insurance agent for both property & casualty and life & health. He has consumer experience with Applied TAM, Applied Vision, and with HawkSoft CMS. He joined HawkSoft in 2006 after working for 6 years in the insurance industry. Jake graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. He has 10 years of work experience in the IT industry where he worked as a computer tech, a network administrator, and an automation manager for insurance agencies.
