Choosing local or online hosting
HawkSoft offers two deployment options for your management system - Local in-office server and HawkSoft Online. Choosing the right option for your agency involves many factors:
What is the speed, reliability, and bandwidth of your local Internet provider?
Local hosting is best for agencies with less-than-reliable Internet access or with limited bandwidth and speed. You’ll still have access to your insurance management system even when you’re offline or experiencing Internet slowness.
Do you prefer to have your data stored in your office or in a data center?
Choosing to host HawkSoft locally is an option for agencies who are confident with their physical security and IT resources and who don’t like the idea of having data in the cloud. Having a locked server room, a network firewall, anti-virus software, and regular, offsite backups is critical.
If you choose online hosting, the physical and cyber security will be handled for you. Backups will also be handled for you. And, since critical data will not be stored locally, your customers’ personal information would be uncompromised even if all your office computers were stolen.
How up-to-date is your local network and equipment?
If your local network and equipment are falling behind the times, choosing HawkSoft Online will reduce the need to upgrade since much of the computer processing will be done remotely on an advanced computer system. On the other hand, if you have up-to-date servers, a robust network, and IT know-how, you can save money in the long run by hosting HawkSoft yourself locally.
Do you need flexibility to work outside the office?
If you need the flexibility of working from home or on the go, choose HawkSoft Online. You will be able to work in HawkSoft from any Internet-connected device. If you choose local hosting for HawkSoft, you may still be able to access your data using GoToMyPC.
Do you need to share data among multiple locations?
HawkSoft Online allows you to share data among multiple locations.
Do you prefer to maintain your own network and IT infrastructure?
If you are comfortable handling your own network and IT infrastructure or have a trusted “IT guy,” then hosting HawkSoft locally is an option for you. On the other hand, if you don’t want to deal with IT but just want to know it is being handled by experts, consider HawkSoft Online.
Whether you decide to host HawkSoft in house or go online, you will have at your fingertips the same powerful features and smooth workflows. Read more about HawkSoft Online here.
